Afghanistan remains one of the most challenging places for women and girls, who continue to face severe restrictions and exclusion. Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, women have been systematically barred from education, employment, and participation in decision-making and public affairs. These restrictions have not only deepened gender inequality but have also led to widespread mental health crises and heightened protection concerns for women and girls.
As a key partner, UN Women has played a crucial role in supporting AWDREO’s efforts in protection, mental health, and community awareness. Through this collaboration, AWDREO has directly assisted 2,500 individuals in Paktia province, providing essential services to those in need.
We sincerely commend UN Women for their unwavering commitment to protecting Afghan women and enhancing their well-being. Their support remains instrumental in creating safer, more resilient communities.
