The “Beekeeping” project was a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing economic opportunities and empowering displaced women, with a strong emphasis on providing access to essential resources. Funded by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the project was carried out in the Poli Alam district of Logar Province over a six-months period, running from March 2023 to September 2023. This project targeted a total of 100 beneficiaries, including 70 men and 30 women, all of whom were internally displaced persons (IDPs) seeking to rebuild their lives in a challenging context.
The project aim was to equip displaced individuals, particularly women, with the knowledge and tools needed to establish sustainable livelihoods through beekeeping. The beneficiaries participated in both theoretical and practical training sessions that covered key aspects of beekeeping, business management, and how to engage with local and international markets effectively. In addition to the training, participants were offered continuous guidance and mentorship to support their learning and growth throughout the project. As a result, the women, in particular, were able to acquire new skills that would allow them to build independent livelihoods, contributing to the overall economic stability and empowerment of their communities.
At the end of the project, each participant received beehives, honey extraction and other beekeeping equipment and essential materials that would enable them to apply what they had learned in real-world settings.
